Building New York

Since 1918

For generations, Bellet Construction has helped maintain, preserve, and restore the buildings that define New York. These archival photographs trace the people, the methods, and the practical craftsmanship behind that work.

Built for New
York.

New York has always been a city of change. Buildings rise, neighborhoods turn over, and generations pass along the same streets. Yet every structure needs continued care to stay useful, safe, and sound.

Bellet Construction began with a straightforward commitment: understand the building, solve the problem, and do the work properly. That commitment became the foundation of the company, and it still guides its exterior maintenance, preservation, and restoration work today.

Understand the building.

Solve the problem.

Perform the work properly.

Relationships That Endure

“The Salvation Army Headquarters is one of Bellet Construction’s longest-standing clients.”

The Work Behind the Skyline

Long before modern equipment and engineered systems, exterior construction depended on experience, judgment, coordination, and skilled hands.

These photographs capture crews working high above the streets of New York. The equipment was simpler, the methods were more manual, and every task called for careful cooperation among the people performing it.

The tools and technology have changed. The principles behind the work have not. Preparation still matters. Experience still matters. Teamwork still matters. Above all, the responsibility to protect the client’s building still comes first.

Experience Was the Most Important Tool

Early crews did not have today’s advanced machinery, lightweight materials, or engineered systems. They relied on practical knowledge, careful planning, and the ability to solve problems in difficult conditions.

The old equipment and scaffolding shown here represent more than an earlier method of building. They reflect the resourcefulness of the people who established Bellet Construction’s reputation.

Every project asked the crew to study the conditions, prepare the working area, and determine how to complete the job with the resources at hand. That problem-solving habit is still part of Bellet Construction today.

Craftsmanship, Layer by Layer

A roof is more than the top surface of a building. It is one of a structure’s most important defenses against weather, moisture, and deterioration.

Sloped Roofing

Careful preparation. Skilled application.

Flat Roofing

One section and one layer at a time.

Whether on a sloped roof or across a wide flat surface, the responsibility stayed the same: prepare the area carefully, apply the materials properly, and build a finished system that protects everything below. The photographs belong to another era, but the attention given to the work is immediately recognizable.

A Legacy That Continues

What began with simple tools, practical experience, and a commitment to dependable work has continued across three generations. New York has changed, and Bellet Construction has changed with it — while keeping the values that established the company.

Respect the building. Understand the problem. Perform the work responsibly. Build relationships that last.

The history in these photographs is not separate from the company operating today. It is the foundation beneath it.
